Refund Request Process for International Students
1. Eligibility for Refund
International students may be eligible for a refund under the following conditions:
- FULL REFUND of the tuition fee, less the application fee will be given if immigration Canada does not approve the study permit.
- TWO-THIRDS of the tuition fee will be refunded if a student withdraws prior to the commencement of the program.
- ONE-HALF of the tuition fees will be refunded if the student withdraws after the commencement of the program but before 30 calendar days have elapsed.
- Medical or compassionate withdrawal (documentation required)
- Status change (e.g., becoming a permanent resident) before the program start date
*Refunds are not guaranteed for mid-program withdrawals unless exceptional circumstances apply.*
2. Required Documentation
Students (or their custodians) must submit:
- A completed Refund Request Form
- A letter of explanation (optional but recommended)
- Supporting documents such as:
- Visa refusal letter
- Medical documents
- Proof of departure or program withdrawal
3. Submission Process
Students must:
- Download or request the Refund Request Form.
- Complete the form and gather all supporting documents.
- Submit the form and documents to the International Education Office at oisp@ocdsb.ca.
4. Review Timeline
- Refund requests are reviewed within 15–20 business days of receiving all required
documentation.
- Students/Parents will be notified of the outcome via email.
- If approved, the refund will be processed and issued within 10 business days after
approval.
5. Refund Method
- Refunds are issued using the original method of payment.
6. Appeals
If a refund is denied, students may submit a written appeal to the International Programs
Manager, Kevin Orange, within 10 business days of the decision.
PLEASE NOTE:
An administration fee of $400 will be deducted from each refund request.
The application fee is non-refundable.
The OCDSB and OCENET shall not be liable for losses or expenses incurred as a result of the Board being unable to provide classes owing to labour disputes or other causes beyond its control.
